Building New, Renewing Old

Two facilities, two phases, and furniture solutions tailored to each space
When Port Houston set out to furnish a new office facility in La Porte and renovate an existing location in Seabrook, the two projects called for different approaches. OFC worked with the client to create functional, modern offices while balancing budget, scheduling, and the needs of each location.

New furniture meets remanufactured craftsmanship
Rather than furnishing both facilities entirely with new products, OFC combined remanufactured Knoll workstations, new seating, and custom millwork.

A standout feature was OFC's CONNECT Series custom millwork, which paired remanufactured Knoll filing components with new laminate fronts, overhead storage, and bookcases. This gave the private offices an updated, custom appearance while making practical use of existing furniture systems.

Different floors, different looks
The new La Porte facility included private offices, open workstations, conference and training rooms, reception areas, and employee break spaces.

The two floors were designed with different furniture finishes and configurations to suit their respective spaces. Rather than forcing an identical look throughout the building, OFC coordinated the furniture within each area, incorporating height-adjustable desks, remanufactured workstations, new seating, and custom storage solutions.

The result was a workplace with distinct looks across the two floors, while maintaining the functionality and quality expected throughout the facility.

Phase 2: Furnishing the existing facility
The second phase focused on Port Houston's Seabrook location, where OFC supplied additional remanufactured Knoll workstations, a custom storage wall, and conference furniture.

The renovation called for a practical furniture solution that could work within the existing facility. By combining remanufactured systems with new components where needed, OFC helped update the workspace without requiring an entirely new furniture package.

Local capabilities, from start to finish
With two locations and different project requirements, having a local furniture partner helped simplify coordination. OFC handled space planning, furniture sourcing, project management, delivery, and installation.

Our in-house remanufacturing and custom millwork capabilities allowed us to combine furniture systems, finishes, and storage components to meet the needs of each space.

From a newly constructed office to an existing facility, the Port Houston projects demonstrate how new, remanufactured, and custom furniture can work together to create practical, professional work environments.
