Creating Consistency Across Citywide Offices
Houston METRO’s renovation program began with a simple flooring update, but quickly expanded when it became clear that removing, storing, and reinstalling 30-year-old cubicles during carpet replacement was not efficient or cost-effective. To achieve a more sustainable and modern outcome, METRO and its contractor determined it would be more beneficial to engage a specialized commercial furniture partner.
OFC partnered directly with METRO to design and deliver a blended solution that combined remanufactured Knoll Morrison workstations, remanufactured Knoll Currents components, and new product where performance and warranty were required. Our sales and design teams collaborated with multiple METRO departments to establish finish standards and layouts, ensuring every office—from downtown headquarters to satellite sites—achieved a cohesive, citywide look.
The project was executed in phases, with OFC providing warehouse storage for surplus assets, reconfiguring viable stations for reuse, and managing phased installations to minimize disruption. To date, OFC has completed several pilot touchdown offices and delivered four full floors across METRO facilities. The scope has grown beyond workstations to include reception areas, conference rooms, private offices, and architectural walls—all designed to create consistent, modern workplaces.
As a result of our ongoing relationship, OFC has replaced and standardized over 200 stations across METRO’s facilities, delivering consistency, sustainability, and long-term value for one of Houston’s largest public agencies.
